The American Association of Orthodontists recommends having your child screened by an orthodontist at the age of seven (or earlier if you notice potential issues)—when a few permanent teeth have started to come in and it’s still early enough to catch problems before they start. Screening early not only helps us detect problems and plan for the future, it also often saves time and money by preventing serious problems as your child grows.
So, what kind of timeline should you expect for your or your child’s treatment? Some treatment plans can take 6 to 8 months or less. Most comprehensive orthodontic treatment plans span 12 to 36 months, with an appointment every 4 to 10 weeks to monitor progress.
Of course, each person is different and your treatment timeline might be longer or shorter than the average. When you come in for your free consultation, if treatment is recommended, we’ll outline the timeline and cost.
